3 ways to pick fall swag colors

1. Sign-inspired

The first way to pick fall swag colors is to use a center sign for inspiration.

Once you choose a sign, pick out the colors from each detail of the sign.

If there are a lot of options, don’t be afraid to pick out your favorites and leave others behind.

2. Ribbon-inspired

You can also build a color palette using ribbon.

Start with an inspiration ribbon, preferably one with a multi-colored design. Then, begin pulling out colors from the ribbon.

Choose a mix of solids and patterns, playing with textures like glitter and lace for more interest. Anchor your patterns using a solid color that they both share.

From there, choose coordinating elements that match your ribbon color palette.

3. Flower-inspired

While a flower may seem like a single color, it often has several colors within a single bud.

Look at the edges of the petals, the base of the flower, and the stem. Pick out these individual colors and find elements to match.

Tips for creating fall swag color palettes

Here are a few more tips for creating fall swag color palettes:

Challenge tradition

Don’t be afraid to go bold with your color choices. A non-traditional color palette will stand out in a crowd of orange and red.

Blue and fuschia look surprisingly amazing in a fall swag. Just stick to classic fall motifs like leaves and pumpkins.

Consider the mood

When creating your fall color palette, consider the mood of your color combinations.

Go romantic with pastel pinks, blues, and violets. Try cheerful with bright yellows, peaches, and oranges. Or opt for calming with grays, blues, and sage greens – fall has many faces!

Remember the base

Remember the base of your wreath and think about how it can add to your fall color palette.

Choose between evergreen, white, burlap, orange, or red… the options are endless.
