70+ Rapid-Fire Email Topic Ideas

One of the most common problems after starting an email list is trying to figure out what to write about. Below are quick topics I’ve created or ideas I’ve found to get you started. Make sure to use them for your niche, I gave a lot of wreath maker or teacher topics. It’s important that you know your audience so you can relate better to them.

Additionally, always end the conversation of your emails with a question so they reply back to you or a call to action (meaning you want them to do something, make a purchase, leave a comment, post a photo, etc.)

Note: all of these are great blog topics as well if you have a blog, but if you don’t, just use email. You can always convert them to blog posts later when you do get a blog.

  • Make a top 5 (or 3! or 10! or whatever!) list – Example: “Top 5 Winter Wreath Door Wreaths”. Ideally, the lists should consist of items you’ve made.
  • Write a reflection email on a special holiday.
  • Write a “What I was doing last <insert month>” – mistakes made, lessons learned
  • “If I had known then what I know now” – talk about a big change between last year and now
  • Dust off an old free gift (like a PDF) and send it out
  • Write a comparison post/email (X vs. Y) – think of things people normally ask you about. Or why your way is better than your competitors. One example for wreath makers: “Wreath vs a Swag for your door” where you weigh the pros and cons of each and give examples and a link to purchase both wreaths and swags.
  • Do a detailed step-by-step on how to. You see me sending these emails out the most. While I have the how-to on my blog, you can write the how-to in an email.
