Fall Floral Hydrangea Wreath

DIY fall floral hydrangea wreath
Today’s design is a fall wreath with hydrangea, mixed fall greenery, and autumn picks, including sunflowers and daisies. In other words, this project is full of seasonal beauty.

Supplies for this project
You’ll need:
- 16” grapevine wreath
- Styrofoam
- Zip ties
- U-pins
- Green moss
- Wire cutters
- Hot glue
- Steel picks (or wooden florist picks)
- Seeded eucalyptus
- Fall leaf eucalyptus
- Fall leaves
- Orange hydrangeas
- Fall filler floral sprays (sunflowers + daisies)
- 4 coordinating fall ribbons
- Florist wire
How to make a fall floral hydrangea wreath
1. Add a fall bow
First up, the bow.
Cut a 2” square of styrofoam and attach it to the top center of your wreath with a zip tie. Use a couple of u-pins and some green moss to cover it.
Then, take a 2 ½” plaid fall ribbon, measure a 14” tail, pinch, and pleat. Measure 12” for a 6” loop, pinch, pleat, and twist. Repeat for a total of 4 loops, then trim a 14” tail.
On top of this base, repeat these steps using a 1 ½” green ribbon, this time creating just two loops.
Next, repeat this process using 1 ½” burlap ribbon, creating four 5.5” loops.
Finally, repeat these steps with a 1 ½” orange ribbon, creating two 5” loops. Trim a tail, secure the center with florist wire, and attach to your styrofoam square using steel picks and some hot glue.
Be sure to dovetail your ribbon ends and roll the burlap ends.
2. Build your greenery form
Next, we’re going to build our form through greenery.
Begin adding seeded eucalyptus behind the bow on each side with hot glue, attaching steel picks where needed.
Include shorter pieces at the top and bottom of the bow.
3. Add focal florals
The focal flowers in this fall hydrangea wreath are, of course, orange hydrangeas!
Add 3 large blooms evenly spaced through your greenery, then smaller buds where needed for an even distribution of color.
4. Include texture
Include filler flower sprays of daisies and sunflowers throughout the design for added texture. Add them with hot glue all the way around the bow.
Then, repeat this process with fall lead eucalyptus, pulling it through the design.
5. Finishing your fall floral hydrangea wreath
To finish your fall hydrangea wreath, add fall leaves throughout the design to lighten up the color palette.
Add more clippings of seeded eucalyptus for both texture and color.
For the final addition, include clipped hydrangea leaves around the outer edge of the wreath to make your elements really pop!
Fluff everything up, fill any last holes, and your seasonal design is ready to enjoy!
