How to make a patriotic grapevine wreath

1. Prepare your base

First up, we’ll prep our design base.

Spray an 18” grapevine wreath with red spray paint, then leave it to dry.

Next, cut a square of styrofoam (about 4”) and attach it to the inner rim of your wreath with a zip tie.

2. Add patriotic florals

With a pre-bundled floral bush, this design practically makes itself!

Lay your floral bush on top of the wreath, straight down the center. The stems should be on the same side as your styrofoam.

Ziptie the stems down in two spots for security, then trim the stems and zip tie ends.

Secure the top of the bush to the opposite side of the grapevine with an additional zip tie, then trim the ends.

You can also trim and reposition any elements in the bush as needed.

3. Attach your patriotic bow

Attach your patriotic bow to the bottom of your wreath (stem end), weaving florist wire through the grapevine and twisting to secure it.

For help with this step, check out my tutorial on How to Make a Double Ribbon Bow the Easy Way.

4. Integrate greenery for interest

Next, add clippings of a fern bush. Stick stems behind your elements, securing them into the styrofoam with hot glue. Remember, what you do to one side, do to the other.

Work all the way around your design, adding texture and interest.

Then, sprinkle in some lemon leaf around the bow, securing each piece with hot glue.

5. Add festive picks

For a festive touch, add festive star picks throughout your design, securing them with hot glue.

6. Finish your patriotic grapevine wreath

For the finishing touches, glue small clippings of baby’s breath throughout the design. This white floral will add contrast and break up some of the green elements.

Fill in any remaining holes with greenery clippings, trim ribbon ends, and your patriotic floral wreath is complete!
